Our Story,
"Band Members Lisa Martinez and Marcia Paul attended a Doo Wop concert in the summer of 2008 and naturally
the conversation turned to their mutual interest and love of this music. They agreed that the Doo wop sound was
gaining in popularity again and it might be a good time to start a new group. Lisa and Marcia began a campaign to
recruit female singers who would have a mutual interest and love of this style. It was easy! The enthusiasm was
great and before long they were joined by Patty Young and Maryellen Salazar. Finding the musicians was also easy
because the interest was so overwhelming. Soon they were joined by six instumentalists who were more than willing
to provide the sound that would be necessary to back a group of four lady singers. The goal was to re-create the
sounds of girl groups of the decades like, The Supremes, Andrews Sisters, Shirelles, Chiffons, Chantels, etc., that
were best known for their contagious harmonies and musical blends that resulted in some of the most loved music.
After much planning and recruitment of some of the hottest local talent "The Dew Drops" were born.
"Look In My Eyes," "Hello Stranger," "Mr. Lee," "Little Bitty Pretty One," and "Maybe" are just a few of the
songs performed by four spirited vocalists, (Lisa Martinez, Marcia Paul, Patty Young, and Maryellen Salazar),
whose unique harmony styles mirror that unmistakeable "oldies sound." Collectively, they bring over a century of
musical expertise to the stage. The result is a fusion that will entertain you as well as make you want to put your
dancing shoes on.
Besides performing in several well known night clubs, various community events and corporate functions, local
business events, The Dew Drops have entertained for the "Doo Wop Society," "Hot Pedro Nights,"
"American-Japanese Living Legacy," "VFW annual Grand Ballroom Gala," "San Pedro Chamber of Commerce."
We invite you to take a walk down Memory Lane and send your hearts and minds back to those great times of
